After 2 weeks travelling the dusty roads of Rajasthan with the frantic pace of city life and the incessant horn blowing (read about our trip here) the hubby and I were in need of some karma; a nice beach resort where we could relax before heading home. Having eschewed Goa – I did that as a student back packer – we opted for Kerala.

This weekend I decided to start something I’d been putting off for a while; sifting through all the photographs from my travels and trying to put them into some kind of order. Boy, what a mammoth job. I’d got as far as putting piles of boxes in front of me and then I started to reminisce. As I did, one thing struck me…..faces, lots of them, and each one looking right back out at me. I think this is usually how you can tell whether I took the photograph or the Hubby did; pictures of scenery are usually his and pictures of people generally mine.

For me, the perfect short break is one that’s within a 2 hour flight from Manchester, has a quick transfer at the other end, includes a little bijou bolt hole to rest my head, a pool where I can take in the sun (that’s a must) and just enough on the doorstep to keep me as busy, or not, as I choose. We’re back! The Hubby and I have spent 11 fab days visiting Morocco from the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, to the windswept coast and then onto Marrakech. This was our fifth visit to the country so you may well have guessed that we totally adore it. Someone asked me recently why we love the place so much and it was quite hard to answer: maybe it’s the weather (glorious in our winter months); maybe it’s the food (delicious and fragrant); or maybe it’s the sheer thrill of stepping into a technicolour world like nothing you can see outside the African continent and yet it’s only a 3½ hour flight from the UK.
