Something for the weekend - Lisbon

May 3, 2012

I have to admit, I’ve always overlooked Lisbon as a city break destination; it’s fallen foul of the big hitters like Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Rome…..the list goes on.  To me Portugal was the Algarve, golf, limited culture and not really a cosmopolitan location to while away a couple of days.  However, faced with 2012 being our year of travelling to new locations and, after spotting a rather cool looking apartment for rent (at a very cool looking price), the Hubby and I decided to hop on the direct TAP Portugal flight from Manchester to see what Lisbon had to offer.

On Safari

April 3, 2012

My ears pricked up recently when I heard that Richard Branson’s Virgin Limited Edition collection will be opening a Kenyan safari camp in 2013.  If Ulusaba, his outpost in South Africa, is anything to go by this will be a stunning place with the emphasis on great quality, service and having fun but with leaving as minimal a footprint as possible and a focus on recruiting local staff.

The many faces of my travels

September 28, 2011

This weekend I decided to start something I’d been putting off for a while; sifting through all the photographs from my travels and trying to put them into some kind of order.  Boy, what a mammoth job.  I’d got as far as putting piles of boxes in front of me and then I started to reminisce.  As I did, one thing struck me…..faces, lots of them, and each one looking right back out at me.  I think this is usually how you can tell whether I took the photograph or the Hubby did; pictures of scenery are usually his and pictures of people generally mine.

I thought I’d share some of my favourite faces with you, each one a memory of a happy time.
