Rioja - where fine wines meet stunning architecture and sublime food

August 8, 2012

For anyone who loves their food and wine as much as the Hubby and I do, you must venture to the Rioja wine region of northern Spain.  I’ve pretty much travelled the length and breadth of Spain over the years, but the Rioja region had escaped my wandering feet for some reason I can’t quite put my finger on.  However, having experienced its delights I’ll certainly be visiting again and here’s why.

Paris with children....really?

June 12, 2012

Most people think of Paris as the city of romance:  walking along the Seine hand in hand with the one you love; sitting in little bistros gazing lovingly into each other’s eyes whilst drinking fine French wine and dining on haute cuisine; and sharing the moments when you feast your eyes upon impressive monuments and ogle at great works of art.   Well, all of that’s true and many of us have done it, so why would you ever think of ruining this by taking children to this hub of sophistication and culture? On Safari

April 3, 2012

My ears pricked up recently when I heard that Richard Branson’s Virgin Limited Edition collection will be opening a Kenyan safari camp in 2013.  If Ulusaba, his outpost in South Africa, is anything to go by this will be a stunning place with the emphasis on great quality, service and having fun but with leaving as minimal a footprint as possible and a focus on recruiting local staff.
